    Hamble Winter Series Round Up

Day 8, as with Day 6, of the Garmin Hamble Winter Series was cancelled due to strong wind forecasts. Ironically for the races that have gone ahead the wind, without exception, has been very light and have tested crews' tactical knowledge and composure. Nine out of twelve races were completed, besides the two windy Sundays one was lost to absolutely no wind. Persephone came first overall, dominating the Sigma 38 fleet by chalking up six

Despite the bitter northerly wind Sigma 38 crews were delighted to get back out on the water after the previous race had been blown off. Initially it was hard to believe there was going to be enough wind but after a short postponement the race committee got everyone off. With incredibly light winds and a strong tide the trick on the first leg was to keep the boats moving and minimise movements. By the first

    Hamble Winter Series Day 5

The weather for day 5 saw the end of the balmy, calm conditions from the first half of the Winter Series with a bleak, windy day with both big gusts and shifts. Certainly conditions more suitable to Sigma 38s against the lighter boats within IRC 3. In the Sigma 38 class Persephone finished first beating With Alacrity by only 15 seconds. Marta was third despite being marginally late for the start. Within IRC 3 Persephone

    Hamble Winter Series Day 4

When the clocks go back midway through the winter series one expects cold, dank days but the fourth Sunday dawned to a beautiful, sunny autumn day with only the slight imperfection of no wind. Laughter, rugby analysis and maintenance discussions could be heard drifting across the mirror smooth sea as crews lapped up the sunshine. By 12:30 a light south easterly wind filled in allowing the race committee to set a start line and get
