GHWS Race Day 8 - Fabulous Finale!

Murky fog greeted the eight Sigma 38s that motored out to the start area for the last race of the series and the year. The forecasted wind and sun eventually made an appearance so the race committee could treat the fleet to a interesting tactical cross tidal course that allowed crews to demonstrate their mark rounding skills. Persephone didn't allow the fact they had won the series two weeks ago to effect another outstanding performance

    GHWS Race Day 7

Wet, wet, wet - race day 7 will be remembered for constant driving rain. A flukey northerly and a cross tide race course gave a interesting tactical race meaning huge gains could be made by those taking the right gamble. Persephone, having already won the series, continued her dominance to win and beat all except one IRC 3 boat. With Alacrity taking different strategies finished second. Further down the fleet there was lots of position

    GHWS Race Day 6

In testing conditions with the varying strength breeze moving all over the place the Race Committee gave the 8 strong Sigma 38 fleet a good race. Once again the Sigma 38s fielded the largest one design fleet, apologies for sounding like a cracked record but really is there a better fleet to race in? Combined classes and the fact that all classes had the same course meant a lot of boat on boat activity. Persephone

    GHWS Race Day 4

Mid way through the Winter Series and competitors were treated to an extra hour in bed, unseasonably warm weather and a perfect 10 to 18 knots of wind. The conditions certainly paid for Light in the first race with special guest, Chris Choules on board. She lead from the beginning to break Persephone's wining streak. Persephone wasn't far behind finishing second and Kindred Spirit, skippered by Tom, was third. In the second race Persephone fought

    GHWS Race Day 3

The Sigma 38 fleet revelled in the blustery conditions. And Persephone's win was the proof of this, not only winning class, but finishing in front of all the IRC 3 boats that started 6 minutes before. Congratulation to the team for an outstanding performance. With Alacrity, struggling with a broken kicker, finished second and Light, struggling with a few boat handling issues, finished third. Marta had a strong race but was just piped into forth
