    GHWS Race Day 2

After last week's light, light winds the Sigma 38 fleet, biggest one design entry in the series was treated to near perfect conditions with a moderate northeasterly (would have been nice to see a bit more sun). Persephone have started exceptionally strongly, today taking 2 more bullets to add to their one last weekend. With Alacrity finished second in both races. Excellent Sigma 38 Turnout for JOG Cowes-Poole-Cowes.

9 Sigma 38s entered, making up almost half of Class 5 and the weather didn't disappoint. Warm and sunny with a gentle beat down down to the forts in 10 knots and then kite up towards Bembridge Ledge and to the finish at Poole. Massive Spring Tide with over 20 boats made the start frantic. Pandanova won the start but with a speedy hoist and perfect gibes With Alacrity overtook on the downwind leg.

  • JOG St Peter Port - Sigmas Do It Double Handed

38 boats raced across to St Peter Port last Friday evening - as the only Sigma 38s entered, Marta and With Alacrity chose to race across double handed in Class 5. It was a spectacularly fast power genoa reach across which saw With Alacrity completing the race in just under 13 hours followed closely by Marta. With Alacrity were 2nd in Class 5 and Marta was 5th - well done to both.

    Champagne and Sailing!

Six Sigma 38s competed in the Royal Solent Taittinger Regatta, making up a third of IRC3. Although the winds were very light, particularly on Saturday, racing in the Western Solent in spring tides was tactically exceptionally challenging and demanded intense concentration. The fabulous warm sunshine, the picturesque Yarmouth and the Royal Solent's hospitality made it seem like a real holiday. Andrew Gordon, owner of Panda Nova, who raced with his two children
