Warsash Spring Champs Weekend 1

This weekend I've been through emotions ranging from euphoric to despair, my body is battered and bruised and I've been as close to 8 other people, both physically and emotionally, as it's possible to be. Every year at the start of the yacht racing season I reminded what an intense, enjoyable sport this is and how lucky the Sigma 38 Class is to have highly competitive teams, great one design competition, skilled and dedicated race committees and a highly complex, challenging area to race in.

For the first 6 races of the championships six Sigma 38 competed making up half of IRC 3. The Solent provided renown testing conditions, with strong spring tides, a brisk, cold wind on Saturday and a light and very shifty breeze for Sunday. Persephone and Pavlova both took bullets in IRC3. However the extracted Sigma 38 results show how competitive the class is. 4 different boats, Pavlova, Persephone, With Alacrity and Pandanova, won races. With only 4 points separating the top 4 boats and another 6 races next weekend there is still all to play for.

Oh and by the way, we all got suntans. With such fantastic conditions all the photographers were out so the links will be posted as soon as they are available.
