When the clocks go back midway through the winter series one expects cold, dank days but the fourth Sunday dawned to a beautiful, sunny autumn day with only the slight imperfection of no wind. Laughter, rugby analysis and maintenance discussions could be heard drifting across the mirror smooth sea as crews lapped up the sunshine. By 12:30 a light south easterly wind filled in allowing the race committee to set a start line and get a short race underway. With a one lap course in a wind that never rose above 6 knots the start was key. Kindred Spirit, Marta and Light probably in that order won the start but Light was able to capitalise on tiny mistakes to win the race. Kindred Spirit skippered by David Thompson, whilst Rob and Julie made the most of Dublin's hospitality, was second and Persephone third. Over half way through the series Persephone leads, followed by With Alacrity and then Light with all three boats have won races. Next week see the break in the series which will resume with one race per day. With 4 races left there is still opportunities for position changes, Paracelsus and Marta are separated by only one point. Enjoy the break and see you on the water on the 8th November.
