The Three Peaks Yacht Race, one of the oldest and most extreme multi sport races in the world, starts tomorrow, Saturday 7th June at 15:30. And two Sigma 38s Rho and Mistral of St. Helier join the 15 boat fleet taking part in this gruelling challenge.

As this isn’t an IRC race, the 150% sail is on board, along with the rowing rigs and the sweeps - when Rho left Hamble these were strapped to the inner stays which gave the boat a rather interesting look. One of the delivery crew members did comment that they were probably the most useful thing on the boat (a point for debate).

The Yellow Brick tracker to follow the teams can be downloaded from the race website http://www.threepeaksyachtrace.co.uk

This year the runners will be carrying the trackers up the mountains, so if you do download the app and watch the race, it won’t be the trackers malfunctioning if you see them on top of a mountain.

Rho set a high standard in 2012 by coming second in the Tilman Trophy and third overall so are with that experience things are looking good!

The current weather forecast suggests a Southerly wind on Saturday, although It's looking as if Snowdon will be a wet run!

Lots of luck to both crews - you Nutters!
